This year, for the first time, UU Congregation of Asheville is sending Coming of Age Youth to General Assembly in New Orleans!  Thirteen CoA youth will travel 1300 miles round trip by bus as part of a multi-generational group including the youth and adult church members.  The trip will have an overnight stop in Montgomery, Alabama, for a racial justice learning experience with youth at a fellow UU church.  At General Assembly, the youth will take part in the youth caucus.

Because of the unusally large size of our group, we need to raise nearly $20,000.00 to cover travel expenses.  That’s a lot of bake sales, babysitting, and car washes, so we’re coming directly to you for help!  We’ve kept our Faithify goal on the modest side, as this is our first experience with crowd-funding, but we are very hopeful of going beyond the $1500 mark.

This trip promises a multifaceted experience for our Coming of Age Youth:  a multi-generational road trip and the opportunity to form bonds across generations, a racial justice learning experience and the opportunity to form bonds across geographical distance, and participation in General Assembly with total immersion in the ultimate UU experience! We are VERY excited about this trip for our youth and are hopeful that you will help them get there!
