Description

STRETCH GOAL ADDED! Electric Systems replacement costs require additional funding.

On Thursday, January 4, the UU Meeting House of Provincetown was flooded by the incredibly high tide/winter storm combination which slammed Cape Cod and other coastal areas. The 1847 building took on up to 6 inches of water on the first floor.

Thankfully the sanctuary in Provincetown is on the second floor, but significant damage and property loss occurred in the parish hall, offices, and meeting rooms.

At one point we were looking into the trap door beneath the church and saw fish swimming there!!!

The good stewards of the Meeting House had made sure to get flood insurance, but there is much that is not covered by the insurance, including the computer, phones, building contents, etc… and there is also a deductible to be paid.
Throughout this ordeal the staff and congregation in Provincetown have been so heartened by all the support of their extended community. Thank you all for your well wishes and offers of help! And, if you are able, donations of any amount will be gratefully received to help with the costs of flood recovery.

Important Note: This is a special DISASTER RELIEF campaign. All pledges will be processed immediately. This will give the congregation access to desperately needed funds as soon as possible.

Thank you for helping our vibrant congregation recover from this disaster!

Electrical Systems $15,000 10,000.00

Wow! We are blown away by everyone’s generosity. We feel held by the web of connections extending from our little part of the world here on Cape Cod.

This week has brought a new kind of flood… of volunteers and support. But also some challenges. It looks like we will have to replace almost all of our electrical system. This is going to be a huge project. We need to make extensive repairs to our elevator. We are tearing out walls up to two feet that were compromised by the flood waters, and we learned that in addition to immediately known losses our refrigerator was also lost during the flood, as well as several wall cabinets.

Any additional funding will be put to good use immediately. We thank you!!!

    Hello Funders,
Please disregard the automatic email that went out Saturday evening that stated your cards would be charged on March 10th. It was sent erroneously because our campaigns are usually not charged until the goal is met, but this is a special relief fund campaign where pledges are charged immediately. I apologize that we didn’t remove this automated message for this campaign

You card is only charged once, when you make your pledge to this campaign.
