Full Description of Project

The Unitarian Church of South Australia is a small UU congregation in Adelaide, Australia. It's the only UU church in its state and one of very few UU churches in Australia. We may be small, but we are mighty! Our congregation is full of wonderful people, young and old, who draw deeply from our Sources and are committed to our Principles.

However, what our congregation currently lacks is ready access to wisdom from international UU and other important voices through a church library ministry, which would help us maintain our spark of purpose and connection. We would love to be able to turn to a friend at coffee hour after a conversation about race and say, "You know, you should borrow our copy of Ta Nehisi Coate's 'Between the World and Me'" or wonder about best practices in small group ministry and pick up our copy of the 'Build Your Own Theology' manual.

Our new volunteer library coordinator is sourcing donations of second-hand books from the congregation, but we would benefit from at least a sprinkling of brand-new UU books from inSpirit. With a small, vibrant collection of used and new books, our volunteer library coordinator will be able to create a church library ministry with real momentum. So many projects could then be built around the church library ministry - from child and parent reading sessions to young adult book discussion groups.

Please help give us the kick-start we need to become wisdom warriors, and we'll do the rest!
