Short Description of Project

Support Congregation-Based Community Organizing and develop powerful congregational leaders in East TN with tuition assistance for Gamaliel Training

How was this project connected to UU?

UU congregations across TN are members of Gamaliel affiliate CBCOs (MICAH in Memphis, NOAH in Nashville, CALEB in Chattanooga, and ACT of East TN in Knoxville and Oak Ridge). Funding from this campaign will be initially available to UUs from TN Valley UU Church, Oak Ridge UU Church, Westside UU Church, and Foothills UU Fellowship, but members of other TN congregations are urged to submit requests for funds to attend the Middle TN Gamaliel 7 Day National Training, March 4-10, 2018.

Congregation-based Community Organizing builds community, makes concrete changes to promote the public good, and develops community leaders. Participation in Congregation-based Community Organizations builds interfaith, interclass, and interracial relationships; attracts new congregational members; develops leaders; and transforms congregational life.
