Help Jon Coffee get to the MFC
Crowdfunding Completed: September 13, 2017
Amount Funded: $1235
Project Owner: Jon Coffee
Short Description of Project
Help a candidate for ministry cover travel expense to the Ministerial Fellowship Committee.
How was this project connected to UU?
While our tradition recognizes the independence of each congregation in terms of governance, throughout our history there have been strong traditions of collaboration among congregations within our movement.
The Ministerial Fellowship Committee one form of embodiment of our tradition of collaboration by providing a means of credentialing and recognizing ministers within our larger movement.
You can read more about the MFC and becoming a UU minister here: http://www.uua.org/careers/ministers/becoming
Every minister who goes through formation and seeks fellowship in the UUA will have to meet with the MFC. The cost of travel is a reality that all our seminarians and candidates for ministry have to face.
This faithify campaign is a way for you to be involved in the process for one minister. My hope is us to create a model for how other people (congregation members, friends, and family of UU ministers in our movement) might participate in the ownership of this tradition and help other seminarians.
Full Description of Project
I am a candidate for ministry in the UUA who will be traveling to Boston in September to see the Ministerial Fellowship Committee, one of the final stages to becoming a UU minister.
I joke with folks that this interview is like the bar exam for UU ministers. For me this is the culmination of a five-year call to ministry. It has been an incredible journey and you can be a part of that journey!
My MFC appointment is on September 15th, 2017 at 9:15am. I need help covering the cost of travel including airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, and food for this trip.
So many of my friends and family have already helped me in my path to ministry and I am so grateful! I will never be able to acknowledge all the ways in which I have been blesses in my journey. This is one more way for folks to be a part of it, one more drop in the ocean of gratitude I already owe to so many.
