Short Description of Project

Help us create this ministry changing blogging network so that all can share in our community.

How was this project connected to UU?

The ChalicePress network is claimed by Unitarian Universalism as it is affiliated with the Arlington Street Humanists which is a chapter of the Unitarian Universalist Humanist Association. Humanists like to inspire community in everyone.
The ChalicePress Blogging Network claims Unitarian Universalism in every way possible! We pull from the great history and tradition of thriving and centering around community. Everyone is welcome no matter their age, race, sexuality, economic background or disability! We hope those who use our service will write and share their experiences as they relate to their UU path. The service will always be free and open to all. We totally rely on the Unitarian Universalists out there!

Full Description of Project

Greetings Friends!

I come before you today to ask for your support in this ministry changing effort. I have been thinking of ways that I can get involved in Unitarian Universalist ministry for some time now and I have always been told to look to my skills for guidance. Let me tell you about this project...

The ChalicePress UU Blogging Network has the potential to fill a very unique niche in our spiritual community. With more than 152 million blogs on the internet it is obvious that blogging is one of the most popular things to do on the internet. The ChalicePress network operates on one of the most popular blogging platforms known as WordPress. With features like social media sharing, media libraries, and so much more it is easy to see the appeal.

How Can This Change UU Ministry?

The ChalicePress Blogging Network will not only give individual UU's a place of their own, but it can be used for ministries, congregations, and other UU organizations. For example, your congregations young adult group could start a blog at youngadultasc.uuchalicepress.com and allow members of the group to create accounts and post blogs. Not only will ChalicePress offer blogging, but you can use it to create ministry or group specific websites. With easy to use features and options right at your fingertips.

What Needs To Happen To Launch?

I'm glad you asked! We have several things that need to happen before we are able to launch and offer this service.

We need to be able to afford the costs of keeping a website of this size on the internet. On average it costs between $75 t0 $150 each year to keep a website up and going. The ChalicePress network will be hosting on a private Amazon EC2 server so we have complete control over everything that happens to and on it. Having this kind of control will let us expand in the future.
We need to hire a web developer to consult on the development of this project. The reason behind this is that we need access to an expert in the area of WordPress Multisite Networks. On average a freelance developer charges $45 and up per hour. This price may vary depending on the contract terms.
We need to have a lawyer on retainer to make sure that all aspects of our service remains legal.
We will need to recruit volunteers and/or part time staff members.
We need to be able to market the ChalicePress network once it has been launched and is open to the public.
We will need to cover all costs of forming a business in the state of Massachusetts.
We are looking to partner with ministries, groups, and congregations on this project.
How Can I Help?

We really need your support to make this project happen! We would ask that you donate if possible and even if you can't we'd ask that you share this campaign with everyone you know. With the power of sharing we will meet our fundraising goals!
