    Rev. Clark Olsen was present with Rev. James Reeb in Selma when Rev. Reeb was murdered by racist thugs in 1965. The murder raised national consciousness on Civil Rights. We bring Rev. Olsen to speak about this experience, and his reflections on the Civil Rights era, and to help us launch work on racial justice in partnership with the Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past and other local organizations.

    After twenty Iowa UU youth and adults experienced planting trees at the Chico Mendes Reforestation Project in Pachaj, Guatemala, we pledged to find 100 environmentally minded souls to adopt and help preserve the endangered pinabete tree. Each $15 donation will ensure a seedling is fertilized, watered, covered in cold weather, and nurtured for three years so that the beautiful mountain sides of Guatemala can be reforested.
